Win8If you’ve been unfortunate to either purchase a new computer with Windows 8 or upgraded to Windows 8, there is still hope.

This is from Leo Laporte:

Leo has been hearing about a lot of pain from users who have upgraded to Windows 8. Fortunately, there are a couple ways to make Windows 8 a little more familiar without having to downgrade back to Windows 7.

There is a program called RetroUI which will bring back the desktop and a Start menu to Windows 8. It doesn’t make things look and feel exactly the same as previous versions of Windows, but that may be a good thing. It’s a modern approach to making the new version of Windows easier to understand.

If the goal is to make Windows 8 identical to Windows 7, there is a skin called Classic Shell that should do the trick. Either way, this should make it an easy transition to the newest operating system from Microsoft.
