Adobe, CSS3, Edge, Flash, HTML 5, Motion Tool
Adobe has unveiled Edge, a new motion and interaction design tool that lets creative pros build Flash-style animated Web content using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. It is available now as a free public preview release from Adobe Labs.
Adobe is making this software available much earlier in the development process than usual—before it reaches beta—to accommodate user feedback to help shape the final product. Edge is planned for commercial release sometime next year. [read]

Business, I Don't Know, Personal, Random Rants
Eating, Habits, Health, Traveling
When I learned that Jay White, the founder of Dumb Little Man, frequently travels in his sales career, this immediately brought back memories of my own business travels during my years in pharmaceutical sales. I was traveling 25% to 50% of my time on overnight trips, sometimes for an entire work week.
Although there are great health tips on this awesome blog, I’m sure that for those of you who travel on business and even for everyone else who has gone somewhere on vacations, you will agree that it’s often quite a challenge to maintain healthy habits while away from home. Many people end up either gaining weight or losing weight after their trips and I’m not talking about desired weight changes either. [read]

JPG vs RAW, Photo Processing, Photography, RAW
Shooting in JPG mode is convenient because you instantly have a file you can throw onto the Internet, but if you’re serious about photography, you might want to think about shooting in RAW if you aren’t already. The reason is that only shooting JPG is the equivalent of letting the camera make a print for you and then tossing the negative — something film photographers would never do. Here’s a simple diagram by Haje Jan Kamps and Reddit user jannne to help you understand the differences. [read]

AT&T, Netflix, Spotify, Streaming, Unlimited Data
Yet ANOTHER reason to hate AT&T. They will do anything to stop competition to their horrible service.
If you’ve still got an unlimited AT&T data plan that you’re holding onto for dear life to stream gigs and gigs of Spotify and Netflix and god knows what else, your life is about to suck a lot more. Even if you’re grandfathered in with one of those good-old-days unlimited plans, the all-you-can-eat-as-fast-as-you-want data plan as we know it is gone. But it gets worse. [read]

Jackie, like so many small business owners we serve, was having a very hard time.
She was suffering from growing pains in her accounting practice. When she first started, she took it for granted that anyone she hired would be an intelligent professional who understood the business of accounting. She figured that as long as she paid people well, everything would be fine. After all, employees just want a place to make a living, right?
Well, not exactly. [read]

If your mom was anything like mine, there were always lots of rules when it came to meal times. One of the biggest no-nos in our house was ‘playing with your food’.
While I get where my mom was coming from in terms of waste, mess and that we should be respecting our food, now that I’m all grown up, I’ve realized there are times when playing with your food may actually be beneficial. [read]

Photography, Street Photography, Taking Pictures, Tips and Tricks
So you want to be a great street photographer. You want to be able to strap your camera around your wrist and boldly walk down the streets, eagle-eyed and aware of everything around you, yet still in tune with your camera settings and its F-stops, its strengths and limitations. You want to visualize a moment happening and then capture it exactly as you saw it, to be preserved forever as a moment of history.
I’m not going to sugarcoat things; this is downright hard to do. I’ve been doing street photography for almost 10 years and I struggle with it every single day. There are just so many competing and unanticipated aspects that all need to come together in unison for a great street photograph to work. [read]

Apple, iPhone, iPhone Profits, Market Share, Sales, Smart Phone
In case you missed it, the big news today is that Apple is king of the hill in smartphones and is now chasing LG for the third place in global cell phone sales. Samsung, which reported its second-quarter earnings today, ranks as the world’s second-largest smartphone maker in units, but the company said it will cease reporting phone and tablet sales citing competition from Apple. If that didn’t impress you, this data point will blow your mind: More than six out of ten dollars of profit in the mobile phone business go to Apple’s pockets, or 66.3 percent. This is interesting because it shows Apple steadily improving its profitability in the cell phone space at the expense of its rivals, Asmyco’s Horace Dediu explains: [read]

Apple, AT&T, Data Throttling, iPhone 5, Verizon
A new change for AT&T Wireless’ Unlimited Data subscribers will soon be taking place. Rumored to be starting in the first week of October, we’ve heard that AT&T will start throttling the data speeds of the network’s top data hogs. As Verizon (PDF) and Virgin have recently done, AT&T will be adopting a similar plan to try to curb the problem of data congestion and overall network issues that have hurt its 3G network’s performance since the onset of the iPhone.
