Another great project by WorshipMIX. Hope Community is a CRC church in Riverside, California.  The existing A/V equipment was older and in need of modernization. The church staff desired to upgrade to the next level, but budget limitations required them proceed with caution.  WorshipMIX provided systems that fit within their budget and satisfied their desire for high quality.  Equipment includes dual HD projection screens, a Nexo speaker system, in-ear monitors, a Yamaha mixing console, as well as acoustic treatment and numerous infrastructure upgrades.  Hope is now equipped to communicate with excellence in multimedia!

Is Logic going to push Pro Tools, Cubase, DP out to pasture?

Pro Tools has always been the 800 lbs gorilla in the world of DAWs.  When Logic 8 came out it seemed to pose a threat to Pro Tools 7, until Pro Tools 8 came along.  Well, here comes Apple again with a new Logic.

“For guitar players, live performers, and all musicians who record, edit, and mix their own music, the new Logic Studio is a huge leap forward. Advanced production tools take the work out of editing timing and tempo. An expansive collection of vintage and modern amps, cabinets, and stompboxes make you sound like you’re playing through legendary gear. And new live performance plug-ins let you record loops and trigger backing tracks when you’re on stage.”

Check out these features.:

Convert to Sampler Track
Guitar Tablature
Tempo Import/Export
Slicing mode (beat detective)
Bounci-in-place

Is there enough to make all those PT’ers jump ship? Only time will tell.

Death Spiral for Your Business

You’ve probably seen it. The fish monger sees a decline in business, so they have less money to spend on upkeep and inventory, so they keep the fish a bit longer and don’t clean up as often, so of course, business declines and then they have even less money… Eventually, you have an empty, smelly fish store that’s out of business.

The doctor has fewer patients so he doesn’t invest as much in training or staff and so some other patients choose to leave which means that there are even fewer patients… [read]

How to Cope When You're Feeling Exhausted

We all have days (and in some cases, weeks or months) when we just feel exhausted. Just getting out of bed feels like a huge effort, and by the time we’ve stumbled to work, downed a grande-sized triple-strength latte, and switched on the computer, we just want to go back to sleep. Whether the cause is a new baby, a bout of insomnia, a hectic life, or a change in routine, here’s some “do”s and “don’t”s to help you to cope with your exhaustion [read]

Apple Preparing iPod Touch With Camera, Microphone: Source

Rumors have swirled about Apple readying a new version of the iPod Touch with a camera and microphone, which, combined with a Skype account, would pretty much obviate the need for a home phone line once and for all.

A well-connected source tells us those rumors are on the money, and that Apple’s factories in China are already manufacturing iPod Touch models with integrated cameras and microphones. An Apple spokesman declined to comment when reached by phone. [read]

EQ Curves and Musical Style

By Craig Anderton (Harmony-Central)

Look at music with a spectrum analyzer, and you might be surprised at what you see. For example, if you analyze a bunch of music that belongs to the same musical genre, you’ll start to detect a pattern with respect to how energy is distributed over the frequency spectrum. Granted, it’s impossible to generalize for all types of music within a genre, but there are often recurring similarities that can be pretty interesting. [read]

Apple Downplays Fiery iPod Incidents

ipodIt took more than 7-months for KIRO 7 Consumer Investigator Amy Clancy to get her hands on documents concerning Apple’s iPods from the Consumer Product Safety Commission because Apple’s lawyers filed exemption after exemption. In the end, the CPSC released more than 800 pages which reveal, for the very first time, a comprehensive look that shows, on a number of occasions, iPods have suddenly burst into flames, started to smoke, and even burned their owners.
